Guidelines

Before selecting the Fitness Test, read the following guidelines:

Sit and rest for at least five minutes prior to taking the test to bring your heart rate to a resting state.

The fitness score is affected by your weight, age, and gender. You must enter this data during the setup phase. Prompts appear after selecting program FITN.

You must wear the chest strap throughout the test.

The arrow keys are disabled during the test. Any pressure on the arrow keys is ignored.

Warm-up Period

When you access the fitness test, the following occurs:

A gender prompt appears. Use the arrow keys to toggle between gender selection and then press ENTER.

The EFX provides a warm-up period before beginning the 5-minute fitness test. The warm-up period has a time limit of 25 minutes. Instructions appear and direct you to pedal at a constant stride rate of 70 strides per minute. The pace is increased until your heart rate reaches 55% of the maximum heart rate (220 minus your age) or the pace reaches 160 strides per minute. In either case, the fitness test commences at this point.
