SAFETY GUIDELINES
Place your BODUM® Cone Grill grill on a secure surface before use. Never tip or tilt it!
•Check before every use that the ash collector (23) is attached and that the ventilation openings (24) are open.
•If you use a grill starter (e.g. BODUM® FYRKAT Chimney Starter) to light the charcoal, make sure that the ventilation openings (24) on the ash collector (23) are closed when transferring the embers.
•Always place the charcoal on the charcoal grate (20) and not directly on the base of the grilling bowl (22) or in the ash collector (23).
•Never touch the grill or grate to determine whether they are hot.
•Always wear barbecuing mitts or use an oven cloth when grilling or adjusting the ventilation openings (24) in order to protect your hands.
•Use grill utensils (e.g. BODUM ® FYRKAT grill utensils) with long handles.
•If you wish to extinguish the charcoal, close the ventilation openings (24) on the ash collector (23) and wait until the charcoal and all parts of the grill have completely cooled down. Never use water to extinguish the charcoal as this may damage the enamel surface.
•Never use water to extinguish burning fat. Instead, move your food to another place on the grilling grates (16 / 19) and wait a few seconds until the fat has burned off.
•Take care when using hot electric lighters and keep them in a safe place. Please observe the relevant instructions.
•Please keep electric cables away from hot surfaces.
USEFUL TIPS
•Once you have lit the charcoal, wait approx. 25 to 30 minutes until the charcoal is covered with a thin grey coating before you start to grill.
•The ventilation openings (24) on the ash collector (23) should remain open while you are barbecuing. Always wear barbecuing mitts when adjusting the ventilation openings.
•Only use
•If you use lighting fluid, please allow it to soak into the charcoal for a few minutes before lighting it. WARNING!
Make sure no lighting fluid accumulates in the grilling bowl (22) or ash collector (23).
•This grill is suitable for barbecuing with a grilling grate or barbecuing with a rotary spit. Follow the appropriate grilling method according to your recipe. You will find tips for these two methods under the heading “Tips for ‘Barbecuing on Grilling Grates’ and ‘Barbecuing on a Rotary Spit’’”.
•Use a spatula (BODUM® FYRKAT barbecue spatula) or tongs (BODUM® FYRKAT barbecue nipper) to turn the barbe- cue food. Avoid using sharp objects to pierce the meat as this can cause meat juices and flavor to escape.
•Ideally, turn the barbecue food once only. Follow the tips of your recipe.
•Never grease the grilling grates (16 / 9) directly with oil. To achieve a more uniform brown surface and prevent the barbecue food from sticking to the grilling grate, it may help if you brush your food lightly with oil.
•Do not line your grill with aluminium foil as this can hinder the flow of air.
