Normal (CSU) Timing

The typical timing option arrangement is shown in Figure 5-6. The PBX is looped timed sending data to the ESU 120e which is actually synchronous to the received data. The Network Interface (NI) is the actual source of all timings. This timing option is the same as that typically used for CSUs. This is the preferred mode for use with a PBX application.

This timing mode works equally well when the PBX is the source of timing. In that configuration the network would not be providing timing.
