Saving to Mass Storage
Initializing (formatting) a memory card    
CAUTION The following steps erase any file s stored on the card.
1If the memory card is new and needs to be formatted, press: 
MENU, page 1 of 2, States, more 1 of 2, mass storage, more, FORMAT  
2To use the LIF format, press: 
FORMAT as LIF  
3To format as DOS, press: 
FORMAT as DOS  
To Use an Internal 
RAM Disk 
1To invoke Instrument BASIC, press: 
USER 
If the eye-diagram personality is loaded, press USER again. 
2Enter an INITIALIZE statement to create a RAM disk. For example, enter the 
following BASIC statement: 
INITIALIZE ":MEMORY,0,0",128 
3Select the internal RAM disk by pressing: 
MENU, page 1 of 2, States, more 1 of 2, mass storage, msi:, MEMORY  
The RAM disk number is shown on the screen. Use the front-panel kno b to 
change the RAM disk number. 
To Use an GPIB 
Disk Drive 
1Connect the GPIB disk drive to the  70004A color display using an GPIB cable. 
2Determine or set the GPIB address of the disk drive. Refer to the disk drive’s 
user’s manual for information on determining the disk drive’s add re ss . 
3Set the GPIB address of the disk drive by pressing: 
DISPLAY, Mass Storage, msi:, GPIB disk, GPIB ADDRESS 
enter the address of the disk drive 
This value is between 1 and 7.
