Changing an icon

You can change an icon by creating or copying a picture you want and then pasting it into an icon’s Info window.

Some icons can’t be changed, including those for control panels and other parts of the system software. Every icon fits inside a small square.

1. Select the picture you want to use for the icon.

2.Copy the picture by choosing Copy from the Edit menu.

3.Switch to the Finder, then click to select an icon you want to change.

4.Choose Get Info from the File menu.

5.Click the icon at the upper-left corner of the Info window to select it.

A box appears around the icon when it’s selected. If no box appears when you click, the icon can’t be changed.
