Advanced receiving operations

Operation from extension telephones

If you answer a fax call on an e xtension telephone, or an exte rnal
telephone in the EXT. jack of the machine, you can make your
machine take the call by using the Fax Receive Code. When you
press the Fax Receive Code 51, the machine starts to receive a
fax.

If the machine answers a vo ice call and pseudo/double -rings for you
to take over, use the Teleph one Answer Code #51 to take the call at
an extension phone. (See Setting the F/T Ring Time (Fax/Tel mode
only) on page 5-7.)
If you answer a call an d no one is on the lin e, you should assume that
you’re receiving a manual fax.
Press 51 and wait for the chirp or until the machine’s LCD
displays Receiving, and t hen hang up.
Your caller will have to press Start to send the fax.

For Fax/Tel mode only

When the machine is in Fax/Tel mode, it will use the F/T Ring Time
(pseudo/double-ringi ng) to alert you to pick up a voice cal l.
If you're at the machine, you can lift the handset to answer.
(FAX-1920CN only).
Lift the external telephon e's handset, and then press Hook to
answer. (MFC-3320CN on ly)
If you’re at an extension ph one, you’ll need to lift the han dset during
the F/T Ring Time and then pr ess #51 between the pseudo/double
rings. If no one is on the line, or if someo ne wants to send you a fax,
send the call back to the machine by pressing 51.
