Unit Power-Up Sequence

Always power-up the MV 4440 before powering-up the host computer. This allows the disk drive modules, and the data access/data transmission functions of the MV 4440, to be fully operational before the host computer is booted-up and “sees” the MV 4440 activities.

LED Power-On Sequence

The front panel LEDs of the MV 4440 power-up in the following sequence (per vPOD). Depending on the size of the drive, some LEDs might blink on momentarily, go off, then illuminate fully after a minute or so.

1.All LEDs are briefly illuminated when the MV 4440 is powered-up.

2.POWER LED.

3.4 Gb LED or 2 Gb LED (illuminates after host computer is powered-up. If MV 4440 is set to Auto or 1 Gb at power-up, the LED does not illuminate).

4.ACTIVE LED (blinks momentarily before illuminating fully).

5.RAID 6 LED (illuminated only if the vPOD is in RAID 6 when it is powered-up).

6.SERVICE LED (is illuminated only when 1 or more drives in a vPOD is malfunctioning)

7.URGENT SERVICE LED (is illuminated only when 2 or more drives in a vPOD are malfunctioning)
