Chapter 6 Integrating Cisco Unity with the Phone System

Integrating with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (by Using SCCP or SIP)

For information on the compatibility of Cisco Unity and Cisco Unified CM versions with the Cisco Unity-CM TSP and the SIP trunk, see the following documents at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_device_support_tables_list.html:

SCCP Compatibility Matrix: Cisco Unity, the Cisco Unity-CM TSP, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express

SIP Trunk Compatibility Matrix: Cisco Unity and Cisco Unified Communications Manager

For information on how to integrate Cisco Unity with Cisco Unified CM, see the applicable Cisco Unity integration guide at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_installation_and_configuration_g uides_list.html.

For more information on using the SIP protocol to integrate Cisco Unity with Cisco Unified CM, see the “Integrating by Using SIP” section on page 6-22.

Note When the G.729a codec is used, Cisco Unity cannot perform silence detection. Using this codec may result in messages that have long trailing silence or that are entirely silent.

Integrating Cisco Unity with Multiple Versions of Cisco Unified Communications Manager

A single Cisco Unity server can support multiple versions of Cisco Unified CM. The version of the Cisco Unity-CM TSP or SIP trunk being used must support all versions of Cisco Unified CM integrated with Cisco Unity. See the following documents at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_device_support_tables_list.html:

SCCP Compatibility Matrix: Cisco Unity, the Cisco Unity-CM TSP, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express
