Installing New Batteries

1.Make sure the manual Bypass switch at the rear of the UPS is set to Bypass.

2.Slide in the new battery packs.

3.Remove the connector covers from the new batteries and replace the screw used to retain the connector cover in the battery housing. Place the connector covers on the used batteries, using the screws in the used battery housing.

4.Attach the battery connector cables to the new batteries.

5.Re-attach the battery pack attachment screws, securing the new battery packs to the chassis.

6.For the Compaq R6000 UPS (and any connected ERM’s), place the battery circuit breaker in the ON position.

7.Reattach the lower front bezel to the UPS chassis using the captive screws at the sides.

8.Reset the manual Bypass switch at the rear of the UPS to the Normal position.

9. After installing the new batteries, press the Test/Reset Alarm button ( ) to initiate a self-test.

NOTE: When re-attaching battery cable connectors, do not hold the connectors by their release tabs on the side of the connector. The connectors will provide a positive latch into place if the release tabs are left free during attachmentt.
