Naming Rules for Zone Members, Zones, and Zone Sets

Zone member, zone, and zone set names must follow these rules:

•Names must be between 1 and 64 characters long

•Characters used in names must be 7 bit ASCII characters

•The first character of a name must be a letter (a-z) and can be either upper case or lower case

•Other characters of the name (any characters besides the first character) can be a letter (a-z, either upper or lower case), a number (0-9), or a symbol ( $ - ^ _).

•No spaces are allowed in the name

There are zoning limitations for individual switches and fabrics. See Table C-3 for maximum limitations.
