PARALLELING BLADE TO TABLE
See Figures 32A-32C.
Thisprocedure squares the blade to the table at 90"
bevel so horizontalcuts will be accurate. This also
reduceskickback, as well as splintering and burning
of the cut edgesof the workpiece. If the blade is not at
90" bevel, follow the steps to rotate the bladeunit
slightly. You willneed a framing square and a flat
bladescrewdriver.
_k WARNING: The blade mustbe perfectly parallel
to thetable at the 90" readingon the bevel scale,
If not, kickback could result,as well as splinter-
ingor burningthe cut. Kickback can result in
seriouspersonal injury as the workpiece can be
thrownat the operator.
Use the arm lockknob to lock the arm in 0° miter
position(straightforward).
Turn the elevating handwheel to raisethe blade at
least2 in.above the table.
Release the bevel locklever below the handle. Use
the bevel indexknob, just under the handle, to turn
themotor to 90". The blade will be horizontal.Lock
thebevel lock lever.
Placethe framing square withthe short end hang-
ingdown infront ofthe worktableand the longside
on edge underthe blade.
Lowerthe arm with the elevating handwheel sothe
bladesurface rests on the square. Turn the blade
slightlyifnecessary so the face ofthe blade, nota
