Removing the Power Supply
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
1Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
2Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 45.
3Remove the
4Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing the Cooling Shroud" on page 66.
5Disconnect all the power cables from the system board and drives.
NOTE: Note the routing of the DC power cables underneath the tabs in the system frame as you release the tabs and remove the cables from the system board and drives. You must route these cables properly when you replace them to prevent their being pinched or crimped.
6Remove the cables secured to the cable clip on the side of the power supply.
7Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the four screws that secure the power supply to the back panel.
8Press the
9Lift the
10Remove the cable clip and set it aside to attach to the new power supply.
