Who Should Use This Guide
Thisguideisintendedforanetworkadministratorresponsibleforinstallingandsetting
uptheDFE‐Goldmodules.
Note: In this guide, the following terms are used:
•DFE-Gold module refers to the 4G4202-72 and 4G4282-49. If the information applies
to only one of the modules, the module is referred to by its model number (such as
4G4282-49).
•Ethernet interface module (or simply interface module) refers to an optional uplink card
installed on the main logic board and accessible through the option slot of the
4G4282-49.
•Mini-GBIC(Mini-Gigabit Interface Card) refers to a smaller optional interface card that
plugs into the 7G-6MGBIC or 7G-6MGBIC-A interface module.
Important Notice
Depending on the firmware version used in the DFE-Gold module, some features described in this
document may not be supported. Refer to the Release Notes shipped with the DFE-Gold module to
determine which features are supported.
