Introducing the EPSON Printer Utilities

EPSON printer utilities allow you to do some printer

maintenance from your screen. For Windows 95 and

Macintosh, utilities to check the current printe r status are also

available. To access the utilities for Windows, click the Utility

tab in the printer software window and the menu below

appears. Then click the button for the utility you want to use.

The utilities are explained briefly below.

Note:

❑The EPSON Status Monitor 2 utility and the Speed & Progress

features are available only for Windows 95. See page 5-7 for more

information about the Speed & Progress settings.

❑The letter in parentheses after the utility name indicates the

shortcut key for that utility. On your keyboard, press the Alt key

and the letter to open that utility.

❑While printing is in progress, pressing any of the utility buttons,

except the EPSON Status Monitor button, may mar your

printouts.

Operation The Operate light is on but nothing prints. Nothing prints and the control panel lights are on or flashing. The printer sounds like it is printing, but nothing prints. The printer operation check prints well, but nothing prints from within an application program. 8-12 Page Color documents print out in black and white. Printing starts too high or too low on the page. 8-14 Print speed is not what you expect. Something on the page is wrong or missing. The New Hardware Found screen appears even though the printer software has already been installed. Paper handling 8-16 Paper does not feed properly from the paper tray. Page The printer loads more than one sheet at a time. Single sheets do not feed properly from a manual feed slot. 8-18 Ejected paper is wrinkled. Paper does not fully eject. Paper feed or paper jam problems occur frequently. Printing quality 8-20 The printed image has gaps or faint areas. The printed image is blurred. The printed image is smeared. 8-22 White horizontal lines appear in the printed image. Vertical printed lines are not aligned. Print quality is not what you expect. Printer utilities The Status Monitor 2 searches for the printer but cannot find it.
