Operation

The Operate light is on but nothing prints.

Cause What to do
The interface cable is not
connected properly. Confirm that the cable is fastened to
the printer and the computer securel y .
If the cable is connected corr ectly, run
a printer operation check as described
on page 8-7.
If your Macintosh has a built-in
modem, connect the interface cable to
the Macintosh’s p rinter port.
Your interface cable does not
meet both the printer and
computer specifications.
Use an interface cable that meets both
printer and computer specifications.

PC” or “Connecting the Prin ter to
Your Macintosh” in your Setup Guide.
Also see “Interface Specifications” in
Appendix A.
Your software is not properly
set up for your printer. Make sure that your printer is
properly selected in your software.
Install or reinstall the printer software
as described in your Setup Guide.

Nothing prints and the control panel lights are on or flashing.

Cause What to do
Several common printer
errors have occurred at once. Use the table in “Error indicators”
on page 8-2 to determine what
combination of errors may have
occurred, and apply the recommended
solutions.
