Using the EPSON Status Monitor 2 Utility

The EPSON Status Monitor 2 utility for Windows 95 allows you

to monitor your printer’s status, alerts you when printer errors

occur, and provides troubleshooting instructions when needed.

Note:

To monitor your printer through a network, you must install an

optional Type B Ethernet Interface Card (C82357 ) in your printer

and use the Status Monitor utility that comes with this interface card.

See the manual that comes with the interface card for instructions on

using the Status Monitor in a network environment.

Before using the Status Monitor, be sure to read the README

file located in the EPSON folder on your hard drive. This file

contains the latest information on the Status Monitor.

Opening EPSON Status Monitor 2

After you install EPSON Status Monitor 2 and restart your

computer, you will find a printer-shaped background

monitoring icon on the taskbar at the bottom of your computer

screen.

To open the EPSON Status Monitor 2 window sh own on the

next page, double-click the background monitoring icon. You

can also open this window from Start. Click Start, point to

Programs, and Epson, then click the EPSON Status Monito r

icon.

Checking the Printer Status

This section describes how to use the Status Monitor to get

general and detailed printer status information and

summarizes the EPSON Status Monitor 2’s main features.

Operation The Operate light is on but nothing prints. Nothing prints and the control panel lights are on or flashing. The printer sounds like it is printing, but nothing prints. The printer operation check prints well, but nothing prints from within an application program. 8-12 Page Color documents print out in black and white. Printing starts too high or too low on the page. 8-14 Print speed is not what you expect. Something on the page is wrong or missing. The New Hardware Found screen appears even though the printer software has already been installed. Paper handling 8-16 Paper does not feed properly from the paper tray. Printer utilities The Status Monitor 2 searches for the printer but cannot find it.
