The amount of underside build-up to be used depends on how closely you wish to approximate the back- scattering of a water bath or other test set-up. Generally, several inches are used: about eight 37051C-1 plates (or about 4.0 cm of "Solid Water") regardless of the incident energy shown in the tables.
