SCSI

Small Computer System Interface

SCSI Device

The general name given to a device which is connected to the SCSI bus (input/output device, I/O controller, host adapter, expander, etc.).

SCSI ID

A physical device address which identifies an SCSI device on the SCSI bus. Each SCSI device must have a unique ID. The SCSI IDs can be 0 to 7, which corresponds to one bit of the data bus.

Sense Data

When several items of error information are included in a command's completion status, this is information generated by the target for reporting detailed information on that status.

Sense Key

This is a 4-bit code displayed in the sense data. It contains information for classifying the type of error that was detected.

Status

This is 1 byte of information reported to the initiator by the target device when execution of each command is completed, which displays the command's completion state.

Target

This is the SCSI device that executes the input/output operations initiated by the initiator.
