IPX Service

The Switch Management Module, by default, has IPX communication enabled. This allows the switch to be managed from an SNMP network management station in an IPX network. The Switch Management Module automatically configures the IPX network address using its MAC address as the node address (displayed in the Node Address field in the IPX Service configuration screen as shown in figure 4-5), and it learns the IPX network number by listening on the network.

In the IPX Service configuration screen, you can disable IPX management by changing the IPX Enabled value to No. You can also configure an IPX gateway frame encapsulation type so that the switch can be managed from a remote IPX network as described in the next section.
