ALLBASE/NET Configurations

The client and server systems can be either an HP 3000 Series 900s running MPE/iX or an HP 9000 Series 700s/800s running HP-UX. F or full client/server functionalit y on both HP-UX and MPE/iX platforms, ALLBASE/SQL m ust be installed on both the clien t and server systems. This con￿guration allo ws the user to create and main tain DBEnvironments and develop programs on the clien t as well as to access DBEn vironments on the server.

Note

The ALLBASE/SQL serv er version must be as new or new er than the

 

ALLBASE/SQL client version.

 

 

Hardware and Software Requirements

ALLBASE/NET clien ts and servers must be connected by a LAN or a WAN (via X.25). The LAN or WAN provides all the necessary hardw are and link softw are to allow comm unication between machines.

NS (Network Services) and ARPA services (Advanced Research Projects Agency) are the software interfaces that enable comm unication between machines on the same network using the TCP/IP protocol.

Note

The HP-UX 10.0 release does not support NS.

If you are using NS, the following products m ust be installed on y our HP 3000 Series 900 system before y ou install ALLBASE/NET:

NS3000/XL Network Services ThinLAN 3000/XL Link

or

DTC/X.25 XL Network Link
