
Gathering Your Data
Before you set up ALLBASE/NET, y ou need to gather the information about the clien t and/or serv er that you will be entering in the AliasDB and NETUsers les.
If you are the system administrator on both the clien t and server, all the information y ou need is readily a vailable to y ou.
If you are the system administrator on only the client or the server, contact the system administrator on the other serv er or client to obtain specic information. Y ou also need to provide that system administrator with information specic to y our client or server.
As system administrator on the clien t, you need the following information about the serv er to put in the AliasDB le:
Type of database managemen t system being used on the serv er.
Fully qualied lename of the DBEn vironment on the server.
Node name of the serv er where the DBEnvironment is located.
Machine type of the serv er.
Type of data comm unication used.
As system administrator or accoun t manager of the accoun t where the remote user will log on to on the server, you need the following information about the clien t to put in the NETUsers le and for assigning a serv er login to the clien t:
Client node name.
Client login name.
To obtain the host name used b y the ARPA interface, check the HOSTS.NET.SYS le on MPE/iX. If the hosts le does not exist, c heck the domain name service le, RESLVCNF.NET.SYS. This le con tains the names of the systems that ha ve hosts les. To obtain the node name used b y the NS interface, type the MPE/iX command NETCONTR OL STATUS.
