The AliasDB and NETUsers Files
For a user to connect to a remote DBEn vironment, two les must exist: the AliasDB le and the NETUsers le.
The AliasDB le resides on the clien t. The names of the serv er's DBEnvironments (the remote DBEs) are con tained in this le. The AliasDB le has an alias prole for each alias name that corresponds to a DBEn vironment. The alias prole con tains the follo wing information:
Alias name that corresponds to a DBEn vironment on the server
Type of database managemen t system being used on the serv er (ALLBASE/SQL)
Fully qualied le name of the DBEn vironment on the server
Node name of the serv er where the DBEnvironment is located
Machine type of the server
Type of data comm unication interface used
The NETUsers le resides on the serv er. It contains a user prole for each user on the clien t that has access to a DBEn vironment on the server. The user prole contains the following information:
Client node name
Client login name
Server login name for the clien t
You use the NETUtil utility on both the clien t and the server to add proles to and main tain the AliasDB and NETUsers les. Additionally , users of DBEnvironments can use NETUtil to display the contents of the AliasDB le so that alias names of DBEn vironments can be checked or conrmed.
