CHANGE ALIAS

Use the CHANGE ALIAS command to c hange an alias pro￿le in the AliasDB ￿le on the client.

CHANGE ALIAS prompts y ou for the current value of the alias name of the alias pro￿le y ou want to change, and then for a new alias name. If y ou do not want to change the alias name, press the 4Return5 key instead of entering a new name.

The current value of each parameter following the alias name is displa yed. You are prompted to enter a new value. To keep the current value, press the 4Return5 key.

CHANGE ALIAS can be abbreviated to CA.

To issue this command, y ou must log on as MANA GER.SYS or have SM capability.

DBEnvironment Name on Server (current value): DBEnvironmentName

Parameters

AliasName

is the alias name of the DBEn vironment that resides on the serv er. It

 

is used by the application on the clien t. This name must be unique on

 

the client and does not need to be the same as the DBEn vironment

 

name. It can consist of ASCII 7-bit c haracters as w ell as some 8-bit

 

and 16-bit character sets (either ASCII or non-ASCII). The alias name

 

can contain up to 128 characters, is not case-sensitiv e, and is stored

 

and displayed exactly as it w as entered.

 

The ￿rst character of this ￿eld cannot be an asterisk (*).

DBServerType

is ALLBASE/SQL, the database managemen t system serv er type

 

on the server. (HP SQL is still supported as a database serv er

 

type. However, if you enter HP SQL, NETUtil displa ys it as

 

ALLBASE/SQL.) The serv er type name is not case-sensitiv e and is

 

stored and displa yed in uppercase characters.
