Setting Up ALLBASE/NET on the Serv er

Note

The following steps assume that y ou are setting up ALLBASE/NET on an

MPE/iX server and the user is located on an MPE/iX clien t. However if the

user is located on an HP-UX clien t, you must use HP-UX naming con ventions

when you enter information in a user pro￿le. HP-UX naming con ventions and

syntax are described for eac h NETUtil command in the \NETUtil Reference"

chapter.

Procedures for setting up ALLBASE/NET on an HP-UX serv er are in the

\Setting Up ALLBASE/NET" c hapter of the HP 9000 Computer Systems

ALLBASE/NET User's Guide .

To set up ALLBASE/NET, perform the follo wing steps: Start the listener.

Assign a serv er login name for the clien t.

Add user pro￿les to the NETUsers ￿le.

Check the SERVICES.NET.SYS ￿le (when using ARP A services) on the serv er.

Maintaining the Listener on an MPE/iX Server

As system administrator on the serv er, you need to start, stop, and c heck the status of the listener after ALLBASE/NET is installed. Y ou must have NM (Node Manager) capability to do these tasks. Sometimes y ou may want to check the listener log ￿le. These tasks are discussed in the sections belo w.

Starting the Listener

The listener must be started the ￿rst time ALLBASE/NET is used after a system boot.

Note

These steps are for starting the listener on an MPE/iX serv er node. To start

the listener on an HP-UX serv er node, refer to \Setting Up ALLBASE/NET

on the Server" chapter of the HP 9000 Computer System ALLBASE/NET

User's Guide .

Before you start the listener, be sure that the net work transport loopbac k interface has been turned on. It should be turned on at system boot up time with the command:

:NETCONTROL START;NET=LOOP

To start the listener, use the ANST ART command. This command streams a job whic h runs the listener. The listener job is streamed with the ;HIPRI option to ensure a timely logon. Once the listener program is started, it runs in the B queue at priorit y 149.

The syntax for this command is:
