The ￿rst line of the listener log ￿le sho ws the date and time of when the listener w as started. The next line shows the date and time of an attempt to restart the listener.

The following t wo lines show that a successful connection w as made. The last ￿ve lines show an unsuccessful attempt to mak e a connection.

Assigning a Server Login

Assign a server login name for the user on the clien t that is accessing the DBEn vironment on the server. Use the information about the clien t login name and clien t node name that you obtained from the clien t's system administrator. The serv er login name should be in the format:

[session,]user.account[,group]

Session Names

The session name is optional.

Group Names

Specify a logon group if a home group w as not speci￿ed on the serv er for that particular user. (Users are assigned home groups with the ;HOME= parameter in the NEWUSER or AL TUSER commands.)

Also, a group name m ust be speci￿ed if the user name has been assigned a home group that is not the desired group for this login or if the user does not ha ve a home group.

Authorities

The user for whom y ou are assigning the serv er login name will need the necessary authorities (suc h as CONNECT authorit y) for accessing the DBEn vironment on the server. These authorities m ust be granted by the database administrator responsible for the DBEnvironment.
