The fraction key (c) cycles through thee varieties of fractional display. If the current answer is the decimal fraction 5.25, pressing cconverts the answer to the common fraction 21/4. If you press cagain, the answer is converted to a mixed number (5 + 1/4). If pressed again, the display returns to the decimal fraction (5.25).

The HP Prime will approximate fraction and mixed number representations in cases where it cannot find exact ones. For example, enter 5 to see the decimal approximation:
