For Straight Stitch:

The ideal straight stitch will have threads locked be_.veen the two layers of fabric, as shown right (magnified to show detail).

If you look at the top and bottom of the seam, notice that there are no gaps. Each stitch is smooth and even.

When adjusting top thread tension, the higher the number, the tighter the top thread tension.

Turn the dial downward to tighten the top thread tension.
