The automatically self-activating B function
In the modes S(No.3), St(No.4), nS (No.5),
q

(No.10) and u(No.15)
the camera automatically switches to long time exposure below
a particular brightness threshold. When the shutter release but-
ton is pressed halfway, Bis then also displayed in the data panel
(19). At maximum aperture (2.4), the shutter then remains open
for as long as the shutter release button is held down, up to a max
-
imum of 99s. During the exposure, the frame counter times the
exposure in seconds.
Warning: When the camera switches to this function in the
various modes, the exposure metering active previously is deac-
tivated at the same time. Therefore, a number of shots with
various exposure lengths are recommended to allow a selection
to be made afterwards.
Note:The pocket-sized LEICA Mini Tripod (Order No.14 320) and
the LEICA Electric Cable Release (Order No.18540) are highly
recommended as accessories when taking photographs with
long exposure times.
