Modes with automatic flash activation

In these modes, the flash is always activated automatically when, because of poor lighting conditions, long exposure times on free- hand shots could lead to blurring, for example, in a dimly lit room and outdoors, at twilight or in poor weather.

The flash is also activated automatically when the metering system detects a situation in which the overall brightness is adequate for exposure without the use of the flash, but is significantly lower in the center of the picture. A graduated fill-in flash used in such cas- es ensures that the main subject (normally positioned in the center) is automatically reproduced correctly even with backlighting.

After switching on, the LEICA CM always goes into this universal mode (unless another mode has been stored, see the section “Storing flash modes/the set exposure compensation“ on p. 108).

Note: This default mode, which is normally always activated, is only indicated by the corresponding symbols in the data panel when setting the function.
