7.Cleaning and maintenance

This procedure is particularly important with bottles containing chloroform. Chloroform tends to swell the bottle seals, making them difficult to remove. This problem can be prevented by regular lubrication.

Checking the retort and wax bath lid seals

Regularly check the retort and wax bath lid seals for damage. If a seal is damaged, it must replaced without delay.

7.3.2Periodic cleaning and maintenance

Cleaning the reagent bottles

Remove the reagent bottles from the reagent cabinet.

Empty and clean them using a bottle brush and a laboratory deter- gent in warm water.

Never clean the reagent bottles in an automatic dishwasher.

Wipe the stainless steel inner walls of the reagent cabinet with a damp cloth moistened with a mild detergent.

Refill and reconnect the bottles once cleaned. Make sure the bottle lids are tight.

Make sure the bottles are properly pushed home into the connection manifolds at the rear inner wall of the reagent module.
