–Youareusingthecorrectdevicedriver.Toinstallcorrectdriver,dothefollowing:
1.OpenControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound➙DeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedfor
anadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethepasswordorprovideconrmation.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,type
thepasswordorprovideconrmation.
4.Ifthe!markistotheleftoftheadapternameunderNetworkadapters,youmightnotusethe
correctdriverorthedriverisnotenabled.Toupdatethedriver,right-clickthehighlightedadapter.
5.ClickUpdateDriverSoftware,andthenfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.

–UseCategory5wiringandmakesurethatthenetworkcableissecurelyconnect ed.
–Connecttoa1000BASE-Thub/switch(not1000BASE-X).
•Problem:TheWakeonLANfeatureisnotworking.
Solution:MakesurethatWakeonLANisenabledinThinkPadSetup.Ifitis,checkwithyourLAN
administratorforthenecessarysettings.
•Problem:IfyourcomputerisaGigabitEthernetmodel,itcannotconnecttothenetworkat1000Mbps.
Instead,itconnectsat100Mbps.
Solution:
–Tryanothercable.
–Makesurethatthelinkpartnerissettoauto-negotiate.
–Makesurethattheswitchis802.3ab-compliant(gigabitovercopper).
