Settingthemonitortype
Tosetyourexternalmonitortype,dothefollowing:
1.ConnecttheexternalmonitortotheVGAconnectorortheMiniDisplayPortconnector,andthenconnect
themonitortoanelectricaloutlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
3.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScreenresolution.

4.SetResolution.
5.ClickAdvancedSettings.
6.ClicktheMonitortab.Checkthemonitorinformationwindowtomakesurethatthemonitortypeis

7.Ifmorethantwomonitortypesaredisplayed,selectGenericPnPMonitororGenericNon-PnP
Monitor.
8.ClickProperties.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethepassword
orprovideconrmation.
9.ClicktheDrivertab.
10.ClickUpdateDriver.
11.ClickBrowsemycomputerfordriversoftware,andthenclickLetmepickfromalistofdevice
driversonmycomputer.
12.CleartheShowcompatiblehardwarecheckbox.
13.SelectManufacturerandModelforyourmonitor.Ifyoucannotndyourmonitoronthelist,stopthe
installationofthisdriverandusethedrivershippedwithyourmonitor .
14.Afterupdatingthedriver,clickClose.
15.FortheWindows7operatingsystem,tochangethecolorsettings,right-clickonthedesktop,andclick
Screenresolution.ClickAdvancedSettings,selecttheMonitortab,thensetColors.
16.ClickOK.
Considerationsforattachinganexternalmonitor
•Wheninstallinganoperatingsystem,youmustinstallthedisplaydriverforyourmonitorthatissupplied
withthecomputer,andthemonitorINFlethatissuppliedwiththeexternalmonitor.
•Ifyousetaresolutionhigherthantheresolutionyouareusingonthecomputermonitor ,andusean
externalmonitorthatdoesnotsupportthatresolution,takeadvantageofthevirtualscreenfunction,
whichenablesyoutodisplayonlyapartofthehigh-resolutionscreenimageyourcomputerproduces.
YoucanseeotherpartsoftheimagebymovingthescreenwiththeT rackPointpointingdeviceoranother
pointingdevice.
•Iftheexternalmonitoryouareusingisoutdated,theresolutionandtherefreshratemightbelimited.
