Gray scale The shades of gr ay available for copying and faxing
photographs.
Group number A combination of Speed-D ial numbers that are
stored in a Speed-Dial location for Broadcasting.
Help list A printout of the complet e Menu table that you can use to
program your machine w hen you do not have the User’s Guide
with you.
Fax Journal Lists information abo ut the last 200 incoming and
outgoing faxes. TX means Transmit. RX means Receive.
Journal Period The pre-programmed time per iod between
automatically pr inted Fax Journal Reports. You can print the Fax
Journal on demand without interrupting the cycle.
LCD (liquid crystal display) The display screen on the machine
that shows interactive m essages during On-Screen Prog ramming
and shows the date and t ime when the machine is idle.
Manual fax When you lift t he handset of your extern al telephone or
press Tel/R so you can hear the r eceiving fax machine answer
before you press Mono S tart or Colour Start to begin
transmission.
Menu mode Programming mode for changing your machine’s
settings.
MFL-Pro Suite (MFC -3820CN only) Turns your machine into a
printer and a scanner and enables PC faxing using the mac hine.
MFL-Pro Suite (MFC-34 20C only) Turns your machine into a
printer and a scanner and enables PC fax (sending) using the
machine.
OCR (optical character recognition) The bundled ScanSoft®
TextBridge® software applicati on converts an image o f text to text
you can edit.
Out of Paper Reception Receives faxes into the machine’s
memory when the machine is out of paper.
Overseas Mode Makes temporary changes to the fax tones to
accommodate noise and static on overseas phone lines.
