Master Address Table Aging Screen
Master Address Table Aging is the aging value of a set tim e, in minutes, and a set
percentage level after which unused addresses are removed from its table.
Note: If a port address table does not hold enough space for all the needed
addresses, some addresses may be present in the mas ter addres s table bu t not in an y
port tables. Such addresses will be remove d from the maste r addr ess tab le after th e
master aging time. The addresses will be re mov ed, rega rdl ess of whether the y ha v e
been seen within that time period. This situa ti on is not v ery li ke ly, but the function
is a security against remaining unused addresses in th e memory for an indefinite
time.
The Master Address Table Aging screen contains two main items:
Aging Time
Master table addresses will be discarded after re aching the set time limit. The
default setting for this parameter is 5 minutes. The maximum time for this value is
9999 minutes. A value of 0 will disable the removal of addresses based on age.
Demand Aging Level
This parameter works in the same way as port demand aging level, only using the
system address table. The default value is 90%.
