Specifying the Recording Time

This operation will only record from the tuner to HDD in DR mode.

This function allows specifying the length of recording time up to 4 hours.

During recording

on the main unit repeatedly until the desired time is reached.

The recording time and the unit’s display change as follows:

Counter (Cancel) OFF 0:30 OFF 1:00

OFF 4:00

OFF 1:30

OFF 3:00

OFF 2:00

Notes

This function does not work during timer recording.

Recording stops and the set time is cleared if you press [g].

The unit turns off automatically after recording finished.

When recording from external equipment, you can select the recording mode from XP, SP, LP, EP. (63)

Direct TV Recording

This operation will only record to HDD in DR mode. This function allows you to immediately start recording the programme that you are viewing on the TV without having to change the channels on this unit.

You can use the function when you connect the unit to a Q Link compatible TV using the 21-pin Scart cable.

(When recording using the TV’s tuner, you can select the recording mode from XP, SP, LP, EP.)

You can also use this function using VIERA Link. (84)

and hold for about 1 second.

Tips

To stop recording

Press [g].

Notes

If you switch TV channels while using Direct TV recording during viewing the analogue or digital terrestrial broadcasting, the Direct TV recording stops.

Playing while you are recording

Chasing Playback

Allows playback from the beginning of the title you are recording.

Simultaneous Record and Playback

Allows playback of a previous title, while recording something else.

You can also change the drive and play while recording. Press [DRIVE SELECT].

During recording

e, r to select the title to play, then

Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].

To stop recording

After play stops

1.Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR] to exit the screen.

2.Press [g].

Notes

“Chasing Playback” and “Simultaneous Record and Playback” can only be used with programmes of the same encoding system (PAL/NTSC).

Depending on the state of the unit, playback may not be possible. (113)
