36 One-Touch Recording

One-Touch Recording (OTR) lets you set a timed recording 30 minutes to eight hours long. Before you begin:

Place the System in VCR mode. Press VCR so the red VCR light appears on the front of the System.

Select a recording speed (SP, SLP) with the MODE/SPEED button.

Put a videotape in the cassette compartment. Make sure the tape’s record tab is intact and the tape is long enough to record the program(s).

1 Press SKIP i /CH o or SKIP j /CH p or the

Number buttons to select the channel you want to record.

2 Press RECORD I on the front of the System until the desired recording length (30 minutes to eight hours) appears￿￿￿￿￿￿￿￿￿ on the TV screen. Recording will begin.The RECORD light and the TIMER REC light will appear on the front of the System.

Stopping an OTR

To stop an OTR before recording is finished, press STOP C on the remote control or STOP/EJECT CA on the front of the System. To cancel the OTR but continue recording, press RECORD I on the front of the System repeatedly until REC appears in the upper left corner of the TV screen.

When an OTR finishes, the System will switch to DVD mode and/or turn itself off.The TIMER REC light will flash because the VCR of the System is still on standby for timer recordings. Press TIMER SET on the remote or STOP/EJECT CA on the System to cancel timer standby and use the VCR of the System normally again.

2Press RECORD I on the front of the System.

Helpful Hints

The remaining recording time will appear on the display panel. Press DISPLAY to see it on the TV screen.

To change the recording length while an OTR is in progress, press RECORD I on the front of the System.

You cannot start a timed OTR with the REC I button on the remote.

You cannot pause an OTR.

If the end of the tape is reached during an OTR, the VCR will stop recording, eject the tape, and switch to DVD mode and/or turn off. The TIMER REC light will flash. Press TIMER SET on the remote or STOP/EJECT CA on the System to cancel timer standby and use the VCR again.

If you press TIMER SET for a Timer Recording, the OTR will stop immediately.The System will switch to DVD mode or turn off for the recording.
