Il colore del soggetto cambia al variare della sorgente luminosa. Ad esempio, lo stesso oggetto bianco presenterà diverse tonalità di bianco, se viene esposto alla luce del sole o ad una lampadina. Nelle macchine fotografiche a pellicola questo aspetto viene superato utilizzando pellicole diverse o applicando appositi filtri. Nelle fotocamere digitali la resa del bianco è regolata tramite la funzione di

bilanciamento del bianco. L'impostazione predefinita è (Automatica).

			Auto	Regola automaticamente il bilanciamento del bianco. (Circa 4000-8000K)

			Luce diurna	Quando si scattano foto alla luce del sole. (Circa 5200K)

			Ombra	Da utilizzare per fotografare soggetti in ombra. Riduce i toni del blu nella
