La funzione OPS è in grado di ridurre le vibrazioni della fotocamera che si producono quando si preme il pulsante di scatto. Questa funzione risulta molto utile quando si tratta di scattare foto in condizioni che potrebbero favorire la produzione di vibrazioni sulla fotocamera. L'OPS consente di scattare foto perfette anche riducendo di 2-3 volte e mezzo la velocità del otturatore.

La funzione OPS risulta ideale se si devono scattare foto in condizioni particolari quali:

-scarsa luce (foto di interni, foto notturne, con cielo molto nuvoloso o con soggetti in ombra;

-uso del teleobiettivo

La funzione OPS non è in grado di annullare l'effetto sfocato causato dal movimento del soggetto. Per scattare questo genere di foto, sarà necessario aumentare la velocità dell'otturatore.

In caso di scatti da distanza ravvicinata l'OPS potrebbe non essere in grado di annullare completamente le vibrazioni della fotocamera. In tal caso, si consiglia di disattivare l'OPS e di utilizzare un cavalletto.

La funzione OPS non funzionerà correttamente se la velocità del otturatore è stata impostata su un valore particolarmente basso (ad esempio, quando si intende riprendere un soggetto in movimento o in caso di scatti notturni). Anche in tale caso, si consiglia di disattivare l'OPS e di utilizzare un cavalletto.
