2.6.1 Windows 98 (only applies to Panel PC 670)
When the Panel PC 670 is started up for the first time, the system reques ts
entry of the appropriate OEM license number during the operating system boot
routine. Please refer to the label supplied for this information. Af ter entering the
license number, enter a name for the computer so that it can be ident ified
within a network.

Special features

The Panel PC 670 is shipped with BIOS setting LEGACY SUPPORT
DISABLED. That means the full functional range of a USB keyboard is not
available during the initial boot sequence (before Windows is star ted). There
are no restrictions for using a USB keyboard to make changes in the BIO S
Setup. When using an operating panel with touchscreen front, changes c an
only be made to the BIOS using an externally connected USB or PS/2
keyboard.
Following a faulty operation, e.g. uncontrolled system shutdown or po wer
failure, the Panel PC 670 starts the Scandisk program during the s ubsequent
boot routine. It is not possible for the user to stop this automatically start ed
program using an integrated membrane keyboard or external USB ke yboard.
The following steps are recommended in order to interrupt this aut omatic
process:
1. When Scandisk has been completed, switch the device of f and on again.
Windows reboots without any keyboard input.
If Windows is not rebooted, switch the operating unit off again. Carr y out the
following steps:
2. Plug in the USB keyboard and switch on the power supply.
3. Press the "F2" key during the boot routine.
4. Select Hardware Options in the BIOS Setup and switch the LEGACY
SUPPORT setting to ENABLED.
The USB keyboard is also supported in Enabled mode.
Notice
If Legacy Support is activated in the BIOS (enabled), individual problems
may occur with specific ISA/PCI extension boards.
5. After rebooting the system again, select Hardware Options in the BIOS
Setup and switch LEGACY SUPPORT back to DISABLED.
If Windows 98 is terminated and Start in MS DOS Mode is selected, inpu t is
only possible using an external PS/2 keyboard.

Power management

The default Power Saving setting Disabled must not be changed in the
BIOS setup.
