Searching for a particular point on a disc

You can quickly locate a particular point on a disc by monitoring the picture or playing back slowly.

Locating a point quickly by playing a disc in fast forward or fast reverse

— Scan

(Except for JPEG image files)

Press m or M repeatedly (or turn mM on the unit clockwise or counterclockwise) while playing a disc. When you find the point you want, press H (or nN on the unit) to return to normal playback. Each time you press

mor M (or turn mM on the unit clockwise or counterclockwise) during scan, the playback speed changes cyclically as follows:

Playback direction

1)DVD VIDEO and AUDIO CD only

2)DVD VIDEO, DVD-RW in VR mode, DivX video files and VIDEO CD only

Opposite direction

•The “⋅2B”/“⋅2b” playback speed is about twice the normal speed.

•The “3M”/“3m” playback speed is faster than the “2M”/“2m”.

•The “2M”/“2m” playback speed is faster than the “1M”/“1m”.

Notes

•Depending on the disc, actual speeds may differ with some discs.

•Depending on the DVD VIDEO and VIDEO CD, you may not be able to do some of the operations.

•For DATA CDs, you can search for a particular point on an MP3 audio track only.

Watching frame by frame

— Slow-motion Play

(DVD VIDEO, DVD-RW in VR mode, DivX video files and VIDEO CD only)

Press SLOW or SLOW repeatedly

(or turn SLOW on the unit clockwise or counterclockwise) when the playback is paused. To return to the normal playback, press H (or nN on the unit).

Each time you press SLOW or SLOW

(or turn SLOW on the unit clockwise or counterclockwise), the playback speed changes as follow:

Playback direction 2 y 1

Opposite direction (DVD VIDEO and DVD-RW in VR mode only)

2 y 1

•The “2 ”/“2 ” playback speed is slower than “1 ”/“1 .”

Playing one frame at a time

— Freeze Frame

(DVD VIDEO, DVD-RW in VR mode, DivX video files and VIDEO CD only)

Press STEP C to go to the next frame when playback is paused. Press c STEP to go to the preceding frame when playback is paused (DVD VIDEO and DVD-RW in VR mode only).

To return to normal playback, press H (or nN on the unit).

Notes

•You cannot search for a still picture on a DVD-RW in VR mode.

•For DATA CDs, this function available only for DivX video files.
