syntax | Rules governing the structure of expressions in a programming | |

system | page | Maximum area in which text and graphics can be imaged on a |

| printing system. |
tape density | Expression of the format of a magnetic tape measured in number | |

| of bytes that can be stored per inch of tape. |
| TOF | Top of form. |
Printing two logical pages on one side of a physical page. | ||
| UCSB | Universal Character Set Buffer. |
| UCS | Universal Character Set. |
variable | data | Changeable information which is merged with a standard |
|
| document to create specialized or personalized versions of that |
|
| document. Variable data is not a part of a form design, but |
|
| varies from page to page. |
virtual | page | Page area selected by a forms designer for printing. |
| vpos | Vertical positioning. |
wildcard | Character (usually an asterisk *) which can be inserted into a | |
|
| command string to indicate that it may represent one or more |
|
| characters in that position. |
| XDDI | Xerox Dynamic Document Interface. |
| xdot | Unit of measurement representing a fraction of an inch. May |
|
| also be referred to as a picture element (pixel) or spot; for |
|
| example, 1/600 spots per inch (spi). |
xerographic | mode | Either of two possible printer configurations: 1. Black mode |
|
| which allows printing with black dry ink only. 2. Highlight mode |
|
| which enables both highlight color and black printing. |
