Tiernan option modules are easily installed in the field for system upgrades or repairs. However, before working with any option modules, please read this chapter in order to familiarize yourself with the:

■Procedures for installing and removing option modules from a chassis

Option Module Tiernan option modules, shown in the following illustration, consist of the Components following components:
■Extractor tab used to remove the module from the chassis
■Filler plate, which must be screwed into the chassis once the module is installed to ensure adequate grounding for emission suppression
■A backplane edge connector which is seated, or plugged into, the unit’s backplane
