An example of message text scrolling is as follows. If the Rows to Display field specifies that three rows can be scrolled, the following occurs when message text is scrolled:

¥Message text on row 2 moves up to row 1. The message text that previously appeared on row 1 is overwritten.

¥Message text on row 3 moves up to row 2.

¥The new message to be displayed (scroll message) appears on message row 3.

Note that you can view the scrolled text in the message text entry boxes by clicking the Get Messages button.

Loading Default Message Text: You can display the default message text in the message text entry boxes by clicking the Load Default Messages button. Default message text appears as follows:

Row 1 Message

Row 2 Message

Row 3 Message

Row 4 Message

Row 5 Message

Scroll Message

Clearing Message Text: For the selected unit and channel, you can clear message text from a particular row or from all rows. In addition, you can clear message text from all rows for all channels of a selected unit.

¥To clear message text from a particular row for the selected unit and channel, select the desired row number in the Clear Row list box using the up or down button and then click the Clear Row button.

¥To clear message text for all rows (1-5) for the selected unit and channel, click the Clear All Rows button.

¥To clear message text for all rows (1-5) for all channels of the selected unit, click the Clear All Channels button.

Retrieving Current Message Text: If the current message text is not displayed in the message text entry boxes for the selected unit and channel, you can retrieve the current message text by clicking the Get Messages button.

Loading Default Format: You can load default format settings of the Format, Rows To Display, Rows of Separation, and Display Time fields by clicking the Load Default Format button. The following default settings are displayed:

¥In the Format list box, Titles on Top is displayed and is highlighted. Titles on Top specifies that title/time/date text is to appear above message text.

¥In the Rows to Display list box, 0 is displayed and is highlighted. The value of 0 disables the display of message text.

¥In the Rows of Separation list box, 0 is displayed and is highlighted. The value of 0 prevents the two text displays, date/time/title text and message text, from being separated by blank rows.

¥In the Display Time text entry box, 0 is displayed. The value of 0 allows the message text to be displayed for an indefinite period of time or until it is overwritten.

Retrieving Current Formatting: If the current formatting settings are not displayed in the Sample Display screen and are not shown in the Format, Rows To Display, Rows of Separation, and Display Time fields, you can retrieve the current settings by clicking the Get Current Formatting button. The Sample Display screen then displays the current formatting and the current settings are shown in the formatting fields.
