Handset phonebook

The handset phonebook allows you to make calls without having to dial manually. You can add 200 names and phone numbers to the handset phonebook and search for phonebook entries by name, category, or by performing a voice search.

Adding entries to the handset phonebook

1KX-TCD560:

Press .(soft key), then press w.

KX-TCD580:

Press .(soft key), w, then press ,.

LThe display shows the number of available entries in the phonebook.

2Enter the party’s name (16 characters max.; see page 56 for character entry), then press ,.

3Enter the party’s phone number (24 digits max.), then press ,.

4Select a category for the entry, or select “Off”.

LYou can search for handset phonebook entries by category (page 17).

LYou can change the category names (page 27).

LCaller ID subscribers can use additional private category features (page 34).

5To save the entry, press ,2 times.

6 Press {ih}.

Note:

LIf there is no space to store new entries, “Memory Full” will be displayed. Erase unnecessary entries (page 19).

To edit/correct a mistake

Use the joystick to place the cursor on the number or character you wish to erase, then press {C}. Place the cursor to the right of where you want to insert a number or character, then press the appropriate dial key.

Note:

LPress and hold {C} to erase all numbers or characters.

Finding and calling a handset phonebook entry

Handset phonebook entries can be searched for alphabetically, by first character, by category, by voice tag, or by scrolling through all phonebook entries. Once you have found the desired entry, press {C} or {s} to dial the phone number.

Scrolling through all entries

1Press . (soft key).

2Push the joystick up or down repeatedly to display the desired entry.

Searching alphabetically

This method is useful when you are searching for an entry which starts with a letter of the alphabet.

1Press . (soft key).

2Press the dial key ({0} to {9}) which corresponds to the letter you are searching for (page 56).

LPress the same dial key repeatedly to display the first entry corresponding to each letter located on that dial key.

LIf there is no entry corresponding to the letter you selected, the next entry will be displayed.

3Push the joystick up or down repeatedly to scroll through the phonebook if necessary.
