Building a Network (Star Configuration)

Wire your network in a star configuration using an ONline System Concentrator as the central point in the network. Wiring in a star configuration provides two major benefits:

❑Faults in the cable plant affect only a piece of the network.

❑You can easily expand the size of your network.

Figure 2-1 shows 10BASE-T and 10BASE-FB modules installed in a star-wired network.
