Appendix A. Basic Troubleshooting

In the unlikely event the switch does not operate properly, follow the troubleshooting tips below. If more help is needed, contact Asanté’s technical support at www.asante.com/support.

Problem

The Power LED is not lit.

This is normal. The emergency power supply LED will

 

only light if the primary power supply fails and the unit

 

takes over powering the switch.

The 10/100/1000 port Link LEDs are not lit.

Check the cable connections. Make sure the

 

connectors are seated correctly in each port, and that

 

the correct type of cable is used in each port. See

 

Chapter 2.6 Connecting to the Network for more

 

information.

The GBIC Link LED is not lit.

Check the GBIC connector. Make sure the cables are

 

inserted correctly, with the Transmit (Tx) connector

 

on one side of the link connected to the Receive (Rx)

 

connector on the other side of the link.

Cannot establish communication to another

Make sure the Link LED for the port in use is on.
