512 bytes is the default size for most operating systems.

For Windows XP (32-bit support) select 4 KB sectors to enable large volume support (greater than 2 TB).

15Select a SpeedRead option. SpeedRead looks ahead during reads and stores the data in cache memory. The optimum setting depends on your actual I/O and storage. You may adjust this setting later.

Enabling SpeedRead may boost performance when you are running video playback and other applications which access data sequentially.

Disabling SpeedRead is a better choice for audio applications.

SpeedRead Auto is usually the best choice for database applications.

16Select a Pre-Fetchoption--the number of extra stripes that are read when the SpeedRead setting is set to enabled or auto.

17Select an Auto-Rebuildoption if it is available for your RAID configuration (refer to Auto- Rebuild on page 13).

18Select a Rebuild Priority. Rebuild Priority allows you to determine whether rebuild or I/O transactions take precedence during rebuild operations. If you choose low priority, for example, rebuilds take longer but the rebuild has minimal impact on performance.

19Click on Next.

20A chart showing the setup you have selected appears. If everything is the way you want it, click on Commit to save your configuration.

21A warning box tells you that all data on the attached disks is to be destroyed and the rebuild process may take up to two hours to complete.

In the warning box, verify that you want to complete the configuration by clicking on Yes. Clicking on No ends the procedure without making a change.

22Click on Commit.

23The FastStream configures the storage: the process may take several hours. When the process is complete, the Health and Status Monitor page appears.
