Properly configured, this mechanism assures that during congestion, normal priority traffic does not delay the highest priority data. The tagged header in the frame governs individual frame priority. Figure D-1 shows priority queuing operating within a switch. Packets coming in through ports 1 and 4 are tagged as normal traffic and placed in a normal queue on an outbound port. Packets coming in through ports 2 and 5 are tagged as high priority traffic and placed in a high priority queue on an outbound port. You can configure priority queuing using the Class of Service Configuration Menu in the console interface or
