The height of the blade is set with a handwheel and
lockedwith a handle, bothonthe front of the cabinet.
To accommodate wide panels, the tabletop has
extensionson each side. Detailed instructionsare
providedinthe Operationsection of this manual for
the basiccuts: cross cuts, mitercuts, bevel cuts,and
compoundcuts.
Forcuts with the blade straight up and cuttingacross
the grain(cross cutsor mitercuts), usethe mitergage
to set the angle and pushthe wood into the blade. To
cut with the blade straight up, along the grain ofthe
wood (rip cuts), use the ripfence to guide the wood.
Pushsmaller pieces with apushblockor pushstick.
To tiltthe blade for a bevelcut, usethe bevel
handwheelon the side of the cabinet. A bevel scale
onthe frontof the cabinet showsthe blade angle.
Insidethe cabinet, adjustablepositive stopscontrol
thedegree of tilt.
Usethe miter gage with a bevel crosscut (compound
cut)and the rip fence with a bevel rip cut. Other cuts
requirespecial attachments,which have detailed
instructions to reduce risk of injury and ensurethe
best performance from your new saw.
Before attemptingto use your saw, familiarize yourself
withall operating features and safety requirements of
your Sears Craftsmantable saw. The saw's features
aredescribed below.
ALIGN-A-CUT INSERT -Apt_,sticinsert onwhich
marksmay be made to indicate the locationofthe
sawcuton the workpiece.
ANTI-KICKBACK PAWLS - Kickback Isa hazard in
whichthe workpiece is thrown backtoward the
operator.The toothed pawls are designed to snag the
workpieceto prevent or reduceinjury should kickback
Occur.
BEVEL HANDWHEEL - This handwheel, on the right
sideof the cabinet, tiltsthe blade for a bevel cut.
BEVEL SCALE - The easy-to-road scale on the front
ofthe work.standshowsthe exact blade angle.
BLADE -This saw is providedwith a Craftsman 64
tooth,10 in. steel blade. The blade is adjustedwith
beveland height handwheelson the cabinet.Bevel
anglesare locked with a handle below the front rail.
WARNING: Be sureto use only blades rated for
atleast 5,000 rpmand recommended for useon
thissaw. Check with your nearest Sears retail
store.
BLADE GUARD - Always keep the guard down over
the bladefor through-sawingcuts.
BEVEL LOCK HANDLE - This handle, placed just
underthe worktable surfaceon the frontof the cabi-
net,locks the angle settingof the blade. Be sure the
handleis hangingstraight down before tiltingthe
blade.If it is notstraight down, it may jam and bend
thelockingbolt.
HEIGHT HANDWHEEL - Use this handwheel to lower
andraise the blade for adjustments or replacement.It
islocated on the front of the cabinet.
MITER GAGE -This gage aligns the wood for a
crosscutat an angle otherthan 90". The easy-to-road
indicator showsthe exact angle for a mitercut, with
positivestopsat 90" and 45".
MITER GAGE GROOVES -The miter gage ddes in
thesegrooves on either side of the blade.
MITER GAGE KNOB -Locatedon the miter gage,
thisknob locksin the cutting angleafter selection.
MOTOR (13 AMP) -The powerfulinductionmotoris
3HP, withcapacitor startand V-belt drive,and is
housedin asturdysteel base.
RAILS -Frontand rear rails providesupportfor large
workpiecesend the rip fence.
RiP FENCE -A sturdymetal fence guidesthe
workpieceand is secured withthe rip fence handle.
Groovesrun along the top and sides of the ripfence
forusa withoptional clamps and accessories.
RIP FENCE HANDLE -The handle on the front of the
rip fence releasesthe ripfence or locks itin place.
RIVING KNIFE OR SPREADER -Located directly.

SWITCH WITH KEY -Your table saw has an easy
accesspower switch located below the front rail.The
yellowswitchkey must be removedfrom the hard-
warebag and inserted into the switchbefore saw can
beoperated. To lock the switch inthe OFF position,
removethe switch key fromthe switch. Place the key
inalocation thatis inaccessibleto childrenand others
notqualifiedto use the tool.
