The ISA Configuration Utility (ICU) and its Configuration Manager are capable of iden-
tifying p roblems an d alerting you to them . Bot h utilities ca n alert y ou to probl ems with
card c onfiguration a s w ell as prob lems that prev ent pr oper operat ion of the utility . T his
appendix describes each type of message and lists the possible causes and actions
you can take to resolve any probl ems indicated by a message. See the following
tables to locate your message and identify any possible corrective actions.

The ICU can display a variety of error messages while in operation. These messages
alert y ou to prob lems that p rev ent the ICU from r unning c orrectly, as well as info rming
you of resour ce conflicts that prevent the configuration o f variou s cards in your com-
puter. If you receive a message from the ICU, see Table C-1 for suggestions on
resolving any problems indicated by the message.

Memory allocation failed

This file is required for
ICU to run.
The ICU cannot find the
index file for its database. Make sure to switch to drive A before
attempting to start the utility.
